Just a quick update.  Last night a couple of friend and I got on a Zoom call.  We painted and assembled minis while we all spoke about gaming and history.  Amazing time.

During the call I got 13 Vikings and 6 more Saxins assembled.  Im in the final stretch.  Just waiting for the last bag of Saxons from Victrix.

Well everyone...  Got my last bag of Saxons from Victrix.  I have to admit, they're a pleasure to deal with.  Shipping from UK to NY was smooth without issue.

Now I'm off to build more Saxons and get to the painting and play testing phase of this project.

Thank all!!!

Watching this as I'm starting a viking army too but for pillage although Midgard sounds interesting.  I hope you got everything from victrix because I just got an email they were not shipping to the US due to tariffs.  Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Oddly enough - I had enough Vikings from previous purchases.  I just ordered the rest of the Saxons that I needed....  So I got it right under the wire!!

You'll see pictures soon.  I have the primer that I like coming tomorrow.

Update:

Yesterday I primed over 100 Vikings.  What a pain!!  I used Monument Hobbies spray primer (makers of Pro Acryl paints).  The results were amazing.  Great coverage and there was very little odor while the primer dried.

Last night I painted four Vikings.  I decided that I’m going to paint the Vikings in muted greens, blues and browns with a small smattering of red.

The Saxons will be a bit less colorful - more on the tan, brown and khaki side.

As soon as I’m happy with the greens I’ll post pictures.  The current green I’m using is Foundry Phlem Green A and B - but it’s not quite the color I was hoping for.  I think I need to go into the “camo green” family to get the results I want.

Looks like the four figures I painted will be going into the back ranks.

Thanks all - have an amazing Saturday!!

Interesting. I may have to check that out.

A little bit of brown in the mix will muddy up the color for blues and greens.  Or a really dark olive drab will work as a base color too.

Can't wait to see the results, even the back rankers.
