For guaranteed drinking pleasure, any of the produce from the Hook Norton Brewery but Old Hooky is a favourite. It even survives  trans global shipping.

I've always made my Old Fashioneds and Manhattans with Canadian rye instead of bourbon.  Canadian Club is my preferred cocktail rye.
 
But here in Boston, we're like from Southern Canada, eh ya'll?
 
Growing up, went to a lot of Bruins games (of course the entire team was from Canada), it was always great to see Gordie Howe and "Pie" McKenzie going at it in the corners, elbows up indeed!

I'm sorry to both Herbert Tarkel and Cat for saying this (and I mean no offence), but it seems a horrible, horrible thing to do to a good whiskey, have you no tastebuds?

CC is a great tasting swilling whisky and mixer!  Also VO for swilling when quantity and or speed of application matters; but I like the extra bite of CC in cocktails.
 
Black Bush or a single malt for sipping whiskies.

That's nice, I do Scotch from time to time though usually its Lagavulin.

I do prefer the western isles single malts to any of the highland ones but the Islay ones are among the best. And, as Monty Python might have said, Lagavulin is a peaty, heavy whiskey particularly suited for hand-to-hand combat!

Yeah, go and look up the Monty Python 'Australian Table Wines' sketch and bear in mind that 2 of my favourite whiskey's are Laphroiag and Lagavulin.
