Into the Necropolis - tinpact's dark fantasy adventures
« on: 02 August 2025, 03:09:58 AM »
A project log for my ongoing miscellaneous fantasy projects.

So, I was reading through my collection of Conan stories and my copy of Vermis II...

Anyway, this is what I've been working on in between other projects. The backdrop I've come up with for these is an "inverted" purgatorial city, equal parts Xuchotl and R'lyeh, where damned souls find themselves adrift. I decided to follow the Turnip28 "no faces" rule here - their "faces" are based (loosely) on Roman theatrical masks. Maybe in the Necropolis, a mask is a more honest representation of yourself.

Figures are mostly based on Victrix plastics - the Gallic fanatics kit is doing some heavy lifting here as a great source of naked bodies.

And some Snakemen, of course.

The giant - calling him Goliath for the time being - is based on a Reaper zombie giant I had from a Kickstarter a few years ago and never knew what to do with. So I set about slightly un-zombifying him and giving him some proper era-appropriate clothing.

forgemaster minis has a set of animal/bone face masks... at least according to the facebook advert I keep seeing and have made a mental note of, but buggered if I can find them on their etsy store...

EDIT - checked Facebook and yep the ad is there, links to their webstore… https://forgemasterminiatures.com/wargaming-miniatures-store/animal-skulls-and-masks/?v=7885444af42e

Those are some nifty parts! I'll have to check to see what other parts they have.

Snakemen painted up (you may recognize the designs on the shields ;)):

And, since I recently remembered I've had them lying around for a while, my favorite WIP minis from my to-be Mordor-themed Saga warband:

And a couple Black Númenóreans to lord over them:

Those are some really cool conversions! I get massive Garden of Hecate vibes! Oh, and Dark Souls.

Very inspirational conversions.  I am interested to see what direction this goes.
