Harambe style buildings market?
« on: August 04, 2025, 07:00:58 PM »
I'm in communication with a 3D printer about maybe creating some Disney World Harambe style buildings, here is a link of photos (a lot): https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/harambe-disney.html?sortBy=relevant

So, if such building were available as 3D prints in 28 mm and 15 mm - would you be likely to buy some?

No promises anything will come of this but I'm hoping.  Be kind of cool to have 'off the shelf' and just have to paint rather than scratch build - which, of course, for some of you is more fun.

Thanks.

we are, maybe, on the same boat.
Nobody make in 3D or even in resin some essential and very simple scenic items that would be very useful for wargame scenarios set in Middle East, North Africa, Muslim infuenced East Africa as the village you mentioned..
All the available scenics  that i've seen  on the web  seem to have been  conceived with fantasy type games in mind or by designers not capable of doing an appropriate historical research...
With just 2 or 3 basic items we would be able to convert everything, including buildings, castle walls, strongholds ecc for our Colonial settings involving berbers, arabs, swaili, foreign legion , méharistes, somali warriors against Italians or British, East Africa WW1 and WW2 ecc..
We just need :
- An historically realistically  shaped  gate
- maybe a desert tent
- and, above all, some simply  designed batlements ...(correctly designed small strips of those typical battlements put on top of a box shaped piece of blue foam will give you a Somali, Dervish, Moroccan, Swaili or Slavers stronghold)

Not sure of current status, but Baueda had a variety of 15 mm desert tents.  Also look at Old Glory 25s (UK Stockiest).  And, maybe, Alternative Armies and/or Donnington Miniatures.  And I'm pretty sure there are some desert tents in the 3D realm.  If needing larger scales, afraid I don't have the knowledge.

But, yeah, that gate would be great - though many years ago Ian Weekly had something similar to that for Indian Mutiny if memory serves.  As to the walls, I think they need to be full walls to be worthwhile for someone to make and turn a profit.  No profit, no product.  Or at least not for very long.

Honestly don't know if this is helpful or not, but I got a pair of crimping scissors (for awnings) that produce that exact crenalation pattern. Won't be much cop past cereal box card mind you...

Realistic buildings of that kind would be good for my collection. I'm working on some East African Italian forces still.

I'm sure such a range would be popular if kept non-period specific. Thus they could be useable almost from medieval through to 19th or even early 20th century Colonial.

the Sarissa Precision North Africa/Colonial buildings line has a fair bit of similarity to the buildings in the linked images. it's not exact but with the right paint scheme, some decorative bits, and texturing, you could get them pretty close in feel. and they come in 28mm, 20mm, and 15mm scales.
