How to glue 3D figures?
« on: 18 September 2025, 11:22:25 AM »
I have been recently playing with the idea of trying to paint some 3D printed multi-part sci-fi figures bought some time ago, but now I am wondering what people use to glue arms, weapons etc together. So, I thought to ask here before making any error with the wrong product..
thank you so much in advance.

Resin figures need superglue in my experience.

Just check they are fully cured - no wet resin anywhere. There shouldn't be but sometimes a hidden bit may not have cured some time in the sun should sort that.

I'm lazy, I never wash figures. But I suspect best practice is to wash any and all figures!

I find resin prints very easy to work with - the only bit to be careful of is thin items can be fragile, but the breaks are often very glueable.

I would suggest UV Resin.  You can buy resin kits, with a UV LED pen light, off of Amazon.  The trick is to get enough UV light into the joint, to cure the resin "glue".  You might have better luck "soaking" the model with UV light using a nail polish curing setup for finger nail polish.  Cheers!

I use Superglue, but make sure I have a little dish of water (sometimes, I confess, I just spit on the table!) to dip the end of, say, the arm I am glueing in before pressing it into the Superglue blob already on the torso. The liquid activates (for want of a better word, someone else can do the science bit) the glue so you don't have to wait ages for it to actually stick.
