Baroness Frederika Charlotte Riedesel arrives at Albany and is welcomed by General Schuyler. Frederika was married to General Fredrick von Reidesel who was captured at Saratoga. The Baroness kept a diary about the Campaign smuggled the German flags away by hiding them in her mattress.
According to her own accounts, she was concerned about her children being held by the Rebels. She had heard bad things about the Americans.
Upon arrival at Schuyler's tent ( Burgoyne had burned his home) she wrote that "Schyuler greeted her children as a Grandfather" and that all of her fears were gone.
