I'll probably need to buy one too for my Empire forces.  :)

Could you perhaps put a figure in your next wip pictures to judge the scale?

I'd been thinking about building one of these for my Warhammer empire army as an alternative steam tank.

Hi... I finished it. I thought about adding rivets or nails but imho that wouldn't fit the "original".

Diameter is 8cm, height is 7cm.

Cheers,
Tobi

Looks very cool. Not wanting to pick at it and I could well be wrong, but wasn't this supposed to be propelled by a horse inside?
So many projects..... so little time.......

There were two different methods suggested by Da Vinci. One of them used horses, the other used a crew rotating a series of gears in order to provide propulsion. Testing has shown that the second method is much more practical, and at any rate, it seems to be what Leonardo preferred.

Wasn't aware of that, cheers Doc. A couple of weeks ago I was in Venice and stumbled accross a Da Vinci invention display in an old church. Some very cool models of various inventions including the rotating cannon deck for ships but I was surprised there was no model of the tank there. Took lots of photo's of the others though :)

Would love to see some of those photos, Dewbakuk:)

There is an exhibit in DaVinci's home town (Firenze/Florence), and they have what they claim to be a full scale reconstruction of the tank. From the photos, it actually looks a bit small to me, maybe half scale. Certainly big enough to fit three or four, but not big enough.

There are many different versions of this tank floating around the internet, original sketches and reconstructions. I built this with the imo best parts of all versions ;)

Thanks for your comments!
