I unfortunately only one miniature show you, because there are not many choices for this period.
(Mr. Malamute, you can not make us some please)  lol

Lovely brush work on this miniature. What manufacturer is this miniature from?

I'm sure Nick has many of the smaller units during the conflict covered next year. My favourite are the New Orlean Greys alongside many other colourful uniforms or lack there of for the Texans.

Thanks for sharing,

Helen
Best wishes,
Helen

He is lovely ;D

I am definately going to produce some New Orleans Greys as they are also my favourite of the various volunteer units, they were actively involved in several of the Texas war battles (not just the Alamo).

As for the Alabama Red Rovers, they are an interesting and very colourful unit. There is a Yahoo group of reenactors who are dedicated to the Rovers:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/alabamaredrovers/

I should have sufficient variety within the range to make up the Red Rovers. There will be buckskin clad figures that could be painted up or US deserters/ New Orleans Greys who could be painted up in the red uniform.

I suspected as much as you would develop the game and I look forward to seeing ...
what I like about this period is that just a little paint to change the miniature

That's quite exciting! Uniform-wise, these militia units are close to many of those that served in the Seminole Wars. Which may just be an upcoming project of mine... Curse you Nick, you'll have me handing over my pay cheque to Boot Hill yet!

Lovely paint job on the rover Duhamel. Very subtle brushwork, just like your Cherokees. And I really like the way you do your bases. Encore svp!

Hi Nick,

I agree that you can makeup the Alabama Red Rovers (ARR) in Hunting Frocks and a uniform similar to the US Army. I'd certainly like to see one of the ARR miniatures in dress parade uniform as shown in "Uniforms of the Alamo and the Texas Revolution and the men who wore them 1835 -1836" by Bruce Marshall.
Lets face it, you might as well have some smart dress miniatures in your gaming unit.

Nick, can you recommend books or links to obtaining information of the fabric patterns used by the volunteers and Tejanos. The designs are stunning an one I wish to apply on the miniatures.

You'll get no sympathy from me, as he has already ensnared me with his nefarious scheming  >:(

That reminds me, I need to order some Vaqueros as soon as possible  ;D

Hi Helen,

I think you probably have most of the good books already as you have quoted Bruce Marshalls. I viewed the 2004 Alamo over and over for inspiration on the tejanos and Texians as they were spot on with the clothes.
I also Googled Mexican Ponchos/serapes and came up with some intersting patterns which young Bugsda did a superb job of recreating when he painted my Tejanos.
When I am back at my office next week, I'll have a look at my favourites list as all my reference material is held there.

Could you post that list here or on the Boot Hill site?

Bear in mind my idea of ordering "soon" and yours might differ widely  :(

 lol lol

Definitely some time before the end of January!
