Police Uniforms ?
« on: January 02, 2010, 05:28:38 PM »
Any Idea (picture) of the Nevada or Las Vegas Police uniform of 1957 ?

I need the color code for the Police Figures (and the zombie police officer  ;) ).

don't know either, but I would advise a peek at godfather II, it is the time and place, and I think I recall policemen

You've got the Nevada State Police, The Clark County Sheriff's Department and the Las Vegas Police Department to choose from in 1957.

The CCPD/LVPD seem to have worn worn a tan coloured shirt with khaki tie and khaki trousers with a tan stripe, sometimes a khaki shirt with tan tie with tan trousers with a khaki stripe. Sometimes tan trousers with a tan shirt and khaki tie. A khaki waist jacket was often worn. Cap was tan with brown leather peak. I'm guessing the khaki jacket and either trouser was a 'winter' uniform.

Nevada State police appear to have worn dark blue uniforms with a light blue stripe down the outer leg. The shirt was a blue/grey colour with royal(?) blue epaulettes and tie. Either dark blue caps or a dark blue montana hat were worn. There seems to be a variation with blue grey trousers with a dark blue stripe.

This pic is from the 60's or 70's...

Here's the badge, but this appears to be a recent one compared to the one the trooper above is wearing. Colours are reversed, but the badge is the same.

I can't say I'm 100% on the above, but I don't think I'll be far off.  :)

The closest brush I had with a Nevada (or was it Arizona+) State Trooper was at the Hoover dam. He got pissy with me for wearing a Smokey Bear lemon squeezer just like his. It is on a shelf right in front of me. It is chocolate brown. :)

1970s, as the car is a first half 1970s model.

In the 50's and 60's I would steer more towards lighter shirts and darker pants - typically shirts were gray, blue, tan or white and the pants black, blue, navy blue or dark grey. The colors would be more subdued and styles less fancy than today. Ties would have been the norm for most police. You have a lot of choice here still but just remember the uniforms would not be flashy. City cops would also most likely wear a uniform jacket on duty.
