This building fits fine with 28mm....just rip off the small building next to the scale....the loading door on the side is big enough and high enough to pass, and the big doors scale with no problem. Not sure about the 2nd building in that set though, But I would be more then happy to take it of someones hands (when I have money again  :'( )

Isn't HO more 1/87? Some of my troops need to duck slightly before entering a door in most of my Railroad kit, lest they bang their forhead against the woodwork.

Paint and moss will be taken care off, don't worry. Stagnant pools of muddy water are included as well.

HO scale is 1/87, 28mm as we all know is around 1/64, S scale is 1/60, N scale is 1/160( roughly), 15mm is around 1/120, and O scale is typically 1/48. That being said - the sizes vary depending on where in the world you live but most model RR standards are set by the NMRA ( National model RR assoc.) in order to keep most of the pieces parts somewhat standardized so they all work together ( in the same "scale" ). There is always a discussion somewhere as to what model train parts work best with gaming figures and the only conclusion is that whatever looks right to you - works. I guess we need a similar organization for the gaming industry to set standards as nobody seems to be able to agree on what is 28mm - from the feet to the eyes, or from the feet to the top of the head; and most accessory pieces tend to be very oversized.

You are right, it did sound like I was saying that HO was 1/72. What I actually said was that the Airfix soldiers sold as HO/OO were 1/72. The confusion arises because HO and OO are exactly the same gauge of track, but the scale of the train models that use each are quite different. I think Airfix thought that because the gauges were the same, the scales were near enough not to matter (or they didn't care).

Actually, Plynkes, Airfix figures sold as HO were 1/76, a ridiculous scale that ruined a lot of potential as too many plastic armor kits were made, but they are too small to go with the hordes of 1/72 figures.

(look at the old Airfix plastics  , they are incompatable with true 1/72 figs).

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,

Now, now Smokey... 1/76 is perfectly good scale, it's all I use for my WWII tanks and vehicles. Plenty of manufacturers either in metal, resin or plastic. Goes well with my 20mm metal minis which as a rule are on the short side, ie. closer to 1/76 than 1/72. But then I don't use 1/72 plastic soldiers at all, with some rare exceptions (a landing craft crew or two).

Why I actually chose 1/76 tanks is that I hate the tracks on plastic kits, the older ones are rubber ones, and the newer ones are link and length thingies that you actually have to assemble. Whereas in metal and resin you get your track assemblies in one piece and nicely sagging at the right places. Plus the resin and metal selections are/were better, if you're able to order from the UK.

But I guess this topic is in danger of plunging far OT... Wayswatcher, have you had time to put some paint on the granary yet? ;D

I am, but it is a big piece so it is taking time to get done.

And I think the topic already has gone way OT as it is, but I see this discussion all of the time  lol

What's interesting is that this is what my uncle's barn used to look like after I painted it every other summer. I never could get the wood to absorb paint evenly. The barn was over one hundred years old, and the weathered wood just absorbed it. I think it looks pretty good.

One miniature is too many, and a thousand are not enough...

Ehm yes, but those are actually underscale so will most likely become background models. Unless you mean 28mm figs then no, I kinda gave up on those as I have only 1 life and I prefer 20mm. I did order some 28mm figs though for survivors in Modhails zombie games, but that is still a secret, and I have no idea if I can actually paint those up as good as my 20mm stuff.

Anyway, back to the painting table......and beyond!
