I haven't been there myself, but the Royal Green Jackets museum in Winchester has collections covering North America in the 18th Century.

Of course, it's pretty much focused on one regiment, but from the pictures on their site, it's got a pretty good collection.

The American Museum in Bath (www.americanmuseum.org) is always worth a visit. The period rooms are great. There's some militaria, but just as good is the 18th century working kitchen where you can scoff plates of ginger cake, baked to the George Washington's mother's recipe!

Wolfe used to live in Bath for a time too - there's a blue plaque on his house, just behind a really good chip shop and opposite where I used to work.

The National army Museum used to have a really good selection of postcards - we bought loads mail order a few years ago - mostly 19th century paintings, but plenty of different subjects.

Wrong Indians, but same French and same war - There's a Clive of India Museum at Powis Castle near Welshpool. No idea if it's any good or not, but I think they have some Indian chainmail suits, swords and "treasures" pinched from India there.
