Martian! on the cheap
« on: January 13, 2010, 08:13:37 PM »
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/40416/martians

From the company that brought you Zombies!

I've been painting up the little buggers this week, and they are looking quite good.  You get 100 martians, for around $30, and it even comes with a free game!  lol  The figures are a big leap ahead from the Zombie figures.  You get three poses, they are very clean and detailed.  I had to remove very little flash from the figures I've painted up.  The plastic is a bit tougher than the Zombie figures as well, when primed it holds paint quite well.  I should have a small squad painted up by this weekend, and will post some before and after photos then.

Planning on using these guys for the X-Com goalsystem game I'm putting together.  These guys will be my sectoids untill I can get some Grey minis.

Could you give us an idea about the scale/height of these Martians, please?

Cheers,

Rudi

The game looks good, but having bought Zombies!!! I'd be wary of buying this as it was fun a couple of times but hasn't been out of the box for about two years now.

If they decide to release a Big Bag o'Martians like they did with the zombies, then I reckon I'd be interested.

Worth keeping an eye on though, thanks for the info.  :)

They're the same heiht as the Zombies!!! so they'll be 20mm high. They're far bulkier though so I agree that they'd probably fit in fairly well with 28mm stuff. I'd have to see them in the flesh to make an actual decision, or at least see some painted and next to 28mm figs....
So many projects..... so little time.......

They actually look like pretty good figures, so I'd like to see some painted versions.

pity the game just looks like a rehash of zombies though... just find the mothership instead of find the helipad...

Martians can be small too. Little green men from space anyone?

They are acually quite substantial compared to the Zombie figures.  They tower over the 1:72 scale Ceaser minis, are roughly the same height as some of my 25mm CoC minis, and look about right compared to my 28mm Copplestone and Artizan minatures.

The Zombies are about exact 1/64 scale (they are too big for true 1/72)

As these are aliens, what they said is good.
