« on: January 22, 2010, 02:06:26 PM »
Please, someone could give me some tips for building a  3 - 5 floors Japanese pagoda (Shinto-Buddhist temple) on a 28 mm scale?

Many thanks,
Sergio

You might want to check out this thread on the Hirst Arts Forum. This guy has done an absolutely wonderful Japanese structure.

Another place for inspiration is this site which has paper models of just the sort of thing you are looking for. You can print one out and build it to see how it might be done in your scale:

Good luck - hope to see what you come up with

Hi,
Many thanks for the info, you are very nice.
I have already made the 28 mm scale models of japanese buildings: a castle, a teahouse and a tori. They will be used by our team for the battles of Fantasy Warriors (Naran italian version) to the convention Comics & Games in Turin last year. This year I want to bring a temple and a pagoda. For the temple I have many difficulties to made the rounded roof that is above on the front of the Japanese temples, which the castle built by Protano has on the left (in the image):

You can see pictures of the two battles at the following links

And these are some of the images of models:

teahouse & tori

Hi, Duhamel,
complimenti, bravissimo!
I see you've got as model the Kakegawa Castle (Osprey book, "Japanese Castle 1540-1640", page 15) as I did. I then added some elements taken from the castle of Azuchi (page 31 and the cover), thereby obtaining a new original castle for our fantasy world.
Please, can you tell me how did you made the thatched roof of the house?

Bye,
Sergio

hello, thatched roofs are made with synthetic fur (like teddy bears) coated with glue and paints. I hope this may help

By the Thor's hammer, can be this a compliment in typical Viking dialect?

in France we bought it in a "dry goods", but I do not know how they say in English, then I can say in a store that sells fabric.

In the US you can buy the faux fur in any Michael's, AC Moore or even Wal-Mart. Anybody who carries craft supplies should have it.
