Trumpeter Salute Convention, Burnaby BC, March 12-14, 2010
« on: January 24, 2010, 07:25:12 PM »
The Trumpeter Convention is once again being held at the Bonsor Recreation Centre in Burnaby. Three rooms are needed to hold this thing! The main hall is filled with gamers of all stripes and vendors from near and far such Pulp Figures from Kelowna, Uncle Mike`s Worldwide from Calgary and nearer to home Imperial Hobbies and Hotz Artworks of Richmond and Kingsford Miniatures from Burnaby!

There are 3 tournaments being held this year. A Flames of War, a 40K and a Warmachine event.

Details can be found here http://trumpetersalute.com/index.html.

Glad to hear Bob Murch is going to be there, although his presence is likely to be very dangerous to my wallet! It'll also be cool to meet Uncle Mike and all the other fellow LAFers!

I'll be running a pulp game using 45 Adventures Sunday morning, too! Come get eaten by the guardians of the Lost Temple, or shot by the other adventurers looking for it's treasures!

Have fun there who ever goes! I won't be able to invest my time (and monies) in attendance though. Maybe next year. :)

Sunday morning, 9AM.  :D

Any other LAFers want to arrange some sort of LAFmeet during TS? Even just lunch over in the foodcourt of the mall on Saturday, or something?

Wish I could be there guys. I'm going to be working this weekend. I'm sure I'll see many of you at Enfilade in May though. I always enjoyed coming up even though I haven't been for almost 20 years now.

Another Trumpeter Salute come and gone - got home to Victoria from the exotic overseas environs of Burnaby & Vancouver earlier this evening.

My pulp game went very well; I met a number of people I'd previously only known as nicknames here on LAF; I ate too many lukewarm hotdogs and drank far too much Coke; bought too many miniatures; got too little sleep; and my throat, feet and back all hurt. An excellent convention, in other words!  :D

Thanx to everyone who made our stay so much fun. Cam and I had a great time and met quite a few folks...nice to put names to faces. Sales were brisk and conversation was good. Not to mention walking away with quite a lot of con-swag and a few 'interesting' stories. We will be back to see you all next year (...if you'll have us...) Thanx again guys for the great convention!

Best Regards,
Uncle Mike

What a swell bunch you lot are to meet in person and play games with! It was indeed a great two days and a night of scattered dice and of laughs.

Getting to play with cool stuff you have only ever seen photos of is a real treat & Wirelizard's pulp board was right up there with Bob Murch's cool spread and Uncle Mike's excellently creepy Strange Aeons demo board.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to introduce themselves and represent the international, unstoppable awesomeness that is the LAF! Odd Duck, Wirelizard, Sturmpioneer, Uncle Mike, Bravo Six... (who did I miss? Don't mean to leave anyone out!) I look forward to seeing you all again next year or sooner for some suitably pulpy fun.

I think we should put on a game together next year just to promote LAF awareness! 8)

Here are a couple of pictures I took of Wirelizard's game. Sorry for the poor quality of the snaps WL (they don't do justice to the terrain or the game!)...

Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

That's a better photo of my pit trap than I've ever been able to take!

Going to put my TS photos up in Flickr in a moment, will post them here too.

Trumpeter Salute 2010 photoset on Flickr.

There's 22 images up, with notes and such. Here's a sample of just three:

Really great pictures, both here & on the Flicker link. Looks like a lot of fun games. Makes me wish I was up there too. Maybe I will see some of you down here in May at Enfilade. Maybe a repeat of some of those games.

Was Bob Murch there to run his game? He used to come to Historicon each year until he moved to Vancouver.
