The Showdown
« on: January 25, 2010, 04:29:47 AM »
Dave, Zac and I threw together a couple games of Pulp Alley! last night, featuring a showdown between Zac's Navy boys and my Afrikacorp.

There were 5 plot points for Zac to capture, as he opted to be the agressor. There's one in each group of houses and one in the center in the crate pile. This was a night mission, so I only started with a couple sentries on duty, and Zac deploys in hiding.

Krause, one of my sentries, failed to see Murphy and Farone come from the back alleys early on. He could be in trouble...

Zac played sneaky to start and didn't alarm either sentry. Next turn, Murphy charged around the corner attempting to capture his first plot point. Charging into the house, he realized someone was awake, and got smacked down with a peril! The alarm is raised!

Not worrying about sounding the alarm anymore, Petty Officer Mitchel jumped out of hiding and shot Krause!

On the other side of the table, having gunned down Beger, my other sentry, Mr. Ford prepares to head to the northern plot point. But Geer has other plans in mind, charges around the corner, and drops Ford!

Schafer finally wakes up and comes out to see what the ruckus is. He looks around the corner and sees Farone. Firing wildly, he misses, but sends Farone running for cover.

The Chief came in from the west, guns blazing, and knocks Weinert down. He heads for the center of the square and captures his first point!

Farone comes running out of hiding and charges straight at Schafer. A bold Move! Unfortunatly, his spirit is stronger than his body and he is gunned down. The Chief runs to his next plot point to attempt capture. The two leaders wind up in a shoot out!

Schafer is unable to put The Chief on the ground and he captures a second plot point! At the same time, Petty officer Mitchel grabs another point on the other side of the table. Farone was able to recover at the end of the previous turn, so reengaged Schafer in a bloody fist fight. His courage pays off this round and he drops Schafer!

Only being a six turn game, that was pretty well the end. Geer managed to hold off Mr. Ford the whole game and prevented capturing the northern plot point. And the fight was pretty tough on the south side of the board, keeping any of Zac's boys from reaching the point.

Final score for the game was 3-2, in favor of Zac.
We traded sides for the second game, with me only capturing 3 as well. Another playtest in the bank, and a good time had by all.

It was fun to go back and watch one of the older scenarios again, and it seemed to work even better with the new terrain.

Thanks to Zac for hosting the impromptu skirmishes!   :D
