Isn't there a large part of Patagonia that speaks Welsh too ?

The irony again, is that there is a close relationship between the two hobbies. I'm interested that several chaps here seem to know rather a lot about morris for instance. Did you know that the famous (late) military illustrator, Rick Scollins, was into painting both military history and morris?

That worthy ACW Osprey author, Ron Field, also plays for a Morris band............

I apologise to anyone who has been tempted to or actually succumbed to the blandishments of this vile exercise.

I just want every Morris dancer extirpated from the planet.

You see what we have to put up with?  ;)

I feel the same about Australians, by the way  lol

Looks like something you would see at a certain parade made famous in San Francisco's Castro district.   lol

Yes, largely due to the preponderance of sheep down there. Pockets of Welsh speakers around Trelew.

Allegedly, during the 1982 Falklands War, members of the Welsh Guards were astonished to find themselves taking prisoner Argentian conscripts from Patagonia who spoke Welsh like them.

And that is your inalienable, if rather racist, right my dear Captain Blood! But why do you have an Australian as your avatar? (Mr E. Flynn, I believe.)

I quite like Englishmen except, of course, on the matter of cricket where they must be crushed at all times. It's for your own good.  :D

Is a young dancer known as a Morris Minor?

I've always regarded Mr Flynn as Tasmanian, rather than Australian.
Are the two synonymous ?

Tazzy is one of the Australian states/territories. Just like the Isle of Wight is an English county.

Ricky Ponting (the Australian cricket captain) comes from there. Did you think it was an independent republic or something?

Gents I'm beginning to see a 'handbags at dawn' thing coming off... can we stick to something resembling a thread on Morris Dancing, or... and I know I'm asking a lot, miniature lead figures?  ;)

lol lol lol lol lol

You're still dining out on the 1966 World Cup!

Ponting's a good player but a rotten captain.

Back on thread and for real though - these figures are excellent. I probably will order a few but, fr the life of me, I have no idea what I'd use 'em in. Maybe a Midsomer Murders Pulp adventure? Hmmm, that's a thought for a range of figures: John Nettles looking anguished at a Village Fayre with a bunch of psychotic Morris dancers.

Australians a race, my dear Starkers?
Surely not?
A nation perhaps, but hardly a race...

Is a young dancer known as a Morris Minor?

I bow to your sparkling wit. That is indeed the case.

Gents I'm beginning to see a 'handbags at dawn' thing coming off...

Sorry Jim. He started it. Just joshing... :)

No, I rather thought of it more like Scotland and Great Britain, as in Scotland is part of GB, but anyone who lives there tends to be Scottish not British if you get my drift, whereas some counties are just political constructs that have very limited allegiance from their inhabitants, such as "Humberside". I had also considered that it may be like the Isle of Man, or perhaps even the Channel Isles.

Back on thread, I wonder if we might see some village cricketers after the morris team ? Village characters could be useful too, poacher, verger, vicar, postmistress etc..... John Nettles surrounded by corpses...

Some Women's Institute ladies (twin-set and pearls) rioting!

I'm thinking that it would be cool to recreate the shoot out scene from Hot Fuzz.
