Early West (1830's) - Picture heavy

i blame 'blood meridian' for encorouging me into the early west (that and lots of hand weapons!)

I haven't read Blood Meridian yet, but it's on my "to Get" list...

There's also a great quote out there somewhere about the well nkow phrse 'bringing a knife to a gun fight", and how back in the early days it was more of a case of bringing a gun to a knife fight. Afterall - if your pistol only has one shot, and you mis, then your reload time is a lot longer than a knifes

recently read about James Bowie's 'sand bar fight' when he is shot, shot by accident, stabbed and impaled with a sword cane - and he disembowels the bloke with the sword cane!
the reloading was another reason i got interested, i really like the idea of someone desperately trying to reload their one shot weapon as a hatchet wielding attacker tries to sprint across the board at them!!

No chance of that John - its washed through too often to catch fire
Most of the figures I had pretty much finished previously, and were only a case of finishing off odds and ends (e.g. webbing, weaponry and hair)

It sure is a nice collection, I didn't realise that all these companies were compatible.....

Dixon is the least compatible, but all the rest match up well (the foundry plains indians are a smidge on the small side but still look ok)

An easy solution would be to put the Dixon figures on slightly thicker bases. From the distance (on the table top) the thickness of the bases isn’t really noticeable and it bring the Dixon figures closer to the other manufacturers larger miniatures.

Thanks for the suggestion - I didn't think of that at the time, and have since sold the Dixons figures, but if I get any more I will!

More goodness.  That is some collection now.  Unusually, for me, I have made a decision to finish one project at a time.  Not sure how long that will last......
