My Badger Gun Trucks: UPDATED with info on BOOTHGIRL!
« on: February 14, 2010, 01:06:08 AM »
I found these not Hummers at our local BigLots store.  They are just a tad off-scale but I don't care as they cost less than $1US each.  I added some GW tank bits.  I think they painted up reasonably well and I have dubbed them Badger Gun Trucks for use in my near-future adventures.   They are shown next to the ever popular BoothGirl and Buck Starwalkermain.

UPDATE:  A lot of folks asked about the availability of BoothGirl in these photos.  I found out that she is still available as a resin cast mini from this company:
       Bobe's Hobby House

www.bobeshobbyhouse.com
I visited their booth at the Atlanta Toy Soldier Show this wekend and they had some for sale at $9.99.  I told the proprietor I would pass along his information to interested parties.

Nice! The scale looks pretty good to me, Dave - I always think that vehicles look a little tall, but then I look at the doors, and I realize that they're just right. These look great. They've painted up excellently, and the GW tank bits really give them a nice near-future look. Cool!

I must agree. The paintjobs are very nice and the vehicle seem to be the right size compared to the figures.

Looks very nice to me, I think you really have the "light reflecting off shiny surfaces" bit nailed down!

Where's the two mini's from?

Nice work on the cars, I often find that GW bits ruin everything (they are so easely reconized), but this time they fit very well!

I love the windows especially!

I assume they are die-cast. If so, how do you go about undercoating them ready for painting in acrylics? I have some similar cheapo not-hummers that would look good with a paintjob like yours.

Hang on, I think the important bit of this all has to be... 'I got these not-Hummers for less than $1 each', doesn't it?

Details of manufacturer and range please, I have toy shops near me, I might be able to find some...

Great painting and nice additions of greebles by the way - good job!

They are plastic not-hummers that came in a bag with about 30 soldiers and a plastic tank and these 2 trucks all for $3.  I got them at Big Lots and don't have the packaging anymore...but I'll try to pick up another pack tomorrow on the way home from work and post pics here.

As for how they were painted.  I sprayed them right out of the package with Testor's Olive Drab.  Drybrushed with Tetstor's Model Masters "Israeli Armor Sand Grey"  and then washed extensively with GW Devlan Mud.  Then lights and details.  Took me about 5 hours for both.

You can get him on ebay

The guy is a repainted Heroclix Lobster Johnson figure from the Indy set. Just scrape the claw off his chest and paint him in browns instead of black.  You can find him on ebay or from iniature dealers for about $1.  The girl was created privately by a game club.  I bought her at a toy soldier con a couple of years ago.  As far as I know she has never been produced commercially.
