New Pirate book moves forward!
« on: 16 May 2007, 09:03:03 PM »
Gents,

Just got word from Rob Broom over at WHH, my Pirate book has moved a step closer to being released. It seems that Rob has secured Pete Borlace is working on the layout. (he's the guy that did the layout for the Old West Game) So it looks like we are looking at a Sept release for this now.

I'm still waiting to hear about when figures need to be there, so the painters (you know who you are) still have some time.

Man I will sure be glad when this thing comes out, I just realized that I have been working on this for well over two years now!! Wow :o  no wonder the wife has been upset about me gaming lately!

Any other juicy tid bits you can share.  I have been wanting to do Pirates for awhile but have not seen a good set of rules that I like.  I love Lotow.  Do you know what the factions will be?

Well the book will feature 3 Crew options, Pirates, Privateers & Royal Navy. Also each Captain will have to choose a Archetype that acts like a ships charter or "Pirate Code" if you will.

Each Crew is vary generic which was done on purpose. That way if you play Royal Navy they could be British, Spanish, Dutch, Etc. The same for the Privateers (which were just pirates that had a letter of Marque). The Pirates are also generic in you could play them as Caribbean, Corsairs (muslum) or Chinese Pirates. There is talk about the author writing a online article to flesh out these at a later date.
