Eastern Front

Is anyone gaming eastern front WW1? If so what rules, figures are you using.
I bought some Old Glory Russians with the idea of filling out my RCW forces but the figures are great and I have begun to fancy getting some Austrian/Germans and game the Eastern Front.

I'd like to. But some other day, when I've finished some of the things I'm doing now. I already have an early war German force under construction, currently matched against the French. Be nice to get some Russians for them to have a go at after. I've half an eye on the Musketeer Minis Russian range.

I starting to consider Russians as my next WW1 project as well since they fought the Turks & Austro-Hungarians extensively, a couple of Russian Brigades even showed up on the Salonika front and remained until 1918, relatively immune to the revolts taking place in other Russian armies.  They can also do double duty for RCW & BoB.
Clear the battlefield and let me see

I had a look at the Musketeer minis and they are very nice, especialy the HMG. They arer though rather pricey Ill probably stick to Old Glory.
I had not thought of the Russians on the other fronts, I think I remember reading somewhere that there were some serving in France too.

Yes I believe they did - 'World War 1 Infantry in Colour Photgraphs' has got an interesting re-conctruction - it says 2 brigades of 2 regiments each served until pulled out in 1918 - in Russian uniforms but with French equipment (adrian helmets, Lebels, french webbing) - less chance of seeing models of them than of the Portuguese I fear!

I am planning on using Mud & Blood for WWI East Front.  I have worked on a supplement for this that has a number of Russian v Austrian scenarios including Austrian Stosstruppen.

This is of course skirmish scale.  I am using 15mm minis for this.

I am trying to do the same thing for Through the Mud and the Blood, but for Turks and Russians.

I have a reasonably sized force of early war Imperial Russians for The Great War - mostly Brigade with the odd donated BH veteran  ;)

I worked on the list for these and it seems to have gone done okay, but you do needs a lot of minis at a ratio of 1:3  lol lol

Here, for example, is a single company with an attached MG platoon and field gun:

This close-up shows the quality of the figures - quite nicely sculpted I think  :)

Hi, inspired by Scrivs/James M's WW1 Chain of Command Project, I intend to use my RCW Boshevics for this.

Any pointers for army composition at that level?

I am writing a scenario book for Great War Spearhead II for East Front 1914. So I have a Corps worth of Russians and a Corps worth of Austrians all in 15mm, plus a division of Serbs and a Divisions of Bulgarians (still need to paint them).

They are really beautifully sculpted- I reckon they're the best Great War Russian range out there.

A revival from 2011 - good lord!

The Brigade Russians are really nice figures, fwiw, and now that Chris's Eastern Front supplement from TFL is actually out (as of Sept 2014) I highly recommend picking it up: http://toofatlardies.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5&products_id=154
