Lledo repaints: the epic journey.
« on: March 03, 2010, 12:42:21 PM »
Hello there,

I'm just doing a little project here, a Lledo repaint. Just tracking it and trying out the diary idea :) We begin with this:

First step: Drilled out the rivet in the bottom of the car. Stripped some of the base paint and got rid of the logos on the side with a pot scourer. No pictures of this I'm afraid!

Second step: Put on a basecoat of Orkhide Shade. Washed this with Badab Black. Highlighted a bit with a mix of Orkhide Shade and Skull White, watered down a fair bit.

Miniature provided by the criminally talented LeadAsbestos.

The model car is not yet glued together (still working this part out).

Excellent work. It really looks like a vehicle that has seen a bit of wear.

Well, I skipped all the way from "Phase 1" to "finished" but here's the pics anyway lol

The last one is the best I think, it shows the mud splats and the rest of the weathering.

So, what do you think? There's a few more Lledos to come and I'll be giving them a much similar treatment :)

I really like this effect from Photobucket:

Here's my second attempt at a repaint, still in the primary stages:

I've only really painted the top part of the car. It is a very dark blue, just an attempt to get away from plain black :) The light is very yellow.

Let me know what you guys think! Any comments or suggestions?

Nice work. Of course the colour choice for Model T's for most of their existence tended to black but a little colour ever hurts.

"Any colour as long as it's black" was the correct phrase, I think  ::)

Which technically speaking isn't quite true. they produced them in various colours for a few years before the war and then again in the last year of production (1926-27). Still it's a great quote.

H. Ford had quite a few good ones.

Here's a nice little pic with my new Sloppy Jalopy driver (just got 'em today!):

The taxi is going to be a staff car for my yet to arrive BUF unit. I've got something interesting planned for the luggage...
