part an all but finished WIP pic, part cheeky ad for Frotherheim - one of the two Frothers games at this years Salute...*

from the outset I wanted to do a really tall crumbling building... my originaly plan was for as thin as possible tower with some kind of animal nest at the summit... my plans had to change however as thin just wasn't possible to allow figure placement and give a realistic still standing look... something a bit chunky was needed... so I started with the spiral stair patiently measured and cut and glued from foamcore and card... once I had two circuits I figured enough was enough (at just over 17 inches tall) and attached the inner wall made from 5mm foamcore, once that was secure, I then glued on the stone effect foamcore available from Antenociti's Workshop... and then proceeded to trash it... I wanted lots of platforms and places to fall off for the foolhardy... so after some windows (again from Antenociti) and some paint and lots of balsa additions...







still needs a little bit more work... and it's too big to photograph properly  but if you want to fall from a great height, it'll be a small part of the Song of Blades and Heroes participation game at this years Salute...

I can see this doing duty for some gothic horror stuff as well... just needs a big bronze lightning conductor and a lab...

*the other game is the inspired Christmas Truce subuteo by Dags...

One question, how did you get the foam core round

I have a metal metre rule, and using that I crease the foamcore, the more creases you put in, the smoother the 'curve' ... I didn't put that many in and if you look at the interior you can see where the inner wall is almost in sections... I tried to smooth it out with filla, but it's visible...

the outer foamcore was much thinner and bent without need for creasing... lots of pins needed to keep it in place while the PVA set though...

Fantastic! Those stairs really give me the creeps. They bring back memories of a great TV version of "Kidnapped" I saw as a (very) young boy (when poor Davy was fumbling up the stairs in his uncle's tower).
