Waterside village
« on: 05 March 2010, 01:10:49 PM »
Here's a terrain project I've been working on. I've been wanting to do something similar for a while.

The board is 2' x 2', and I plan to do some extensions to it. Possibly some to carry on the town, another going to the countryside. I'm hoping to be able to use for anything from Interwar, WW2, Pulp and even some Modern games.

The plan is to have a rocky beach up to the dock part of things, where it will be brickwork. I'm thinking of having a narrow gauge railway on this board as it will be a staging area for receiving cargo. But it's not meant to be very dense industrial or anything.

The sloping wedge will be a dirt road leading up to the brickwork of the town. Buildings-wise I am probably going to have some kind of warehouse, and maybe even a pub!

Hope to show some progress soon.

lol  Sorry, Christian, that made me laugh.   I like your project, but I was witholding praise (and you know I am going to praise your work, always do  ;) ) until you got farther along.

Haha, and that is fair enough.

I have progressed a little bit... but actually I was holding back from posting until I progressed a bit more  lol

I have added a brickwork facade to the fron of the dock, and some rock formations are being added to the beach side.

Pictures will be up this evening!

Progress!

The rocky bit will be filled out so it doesn't look so artificial. The gap in the bricks is where the wooden dock will be.

I'll have to start planning the buildings soon, but I'd like to have some lights somewhere, so I'll be getting som O-Scale lamps and hooking them up to a battery under the board.

Here's a nice little pic:

That's all for now!

Really nice so far. Is it going to be pirate themed?

It's intended for turn of the 20th century and onwards... however if I'm clever with the buildings I can swap them around as necessary.

I was thinking of having a narrow gauge railway on it though. We'll see :)
