Askari Miniatures
« on: 07 March 2010, 07:29:45 PM »
In between googling Downfall parodies on Youtube, I cam across the 28mm Askari Miniatures website - looking at it there would seem to be fair few figures that might be useful to WW1 buffs (apols if most already know about their figures) - I am esp interested in the Chasseurs Alpins given that I have a largish number of Brigade figures that I had been planning to use to try and set up a company - though was somewhat stymied by the lack of command and support figures (a problem partially solved albeit in an expensive manner by cutting the bereted heads off some Brigade figs and putting them on GWM French officers bodies) -which has led to them being overtaken by my EW Belgians now that GWM are releasing some MGs etc

Does anyone know how the figures from Askari match up to any others such as GWM. The artillery (at least the mountain pieces) also look interesting

Potentially also some of the other troops such as the Zouaves could have an EW use - and if the right size the Turskish pasha could be usful too

The Askari miniatures are nice and match quite well with my 25mm WWI Battle Honors Zoauves.

I suspect the above means they will not match my Brigade and GWM based forces! Pity

Askari Italian officer on the left, GWM British officer on the right. GWM chap is bigger, but not to a degree that would make me fret about using them in the same game. Can't speak for the Askari French, as I don't have any.

I use Askari's Zouaves in my EW army alongside Renegade French Line.  They are noticeably smaller, but since they are in different units, it doesn't show so much.  More noticeable is the difference in the rifles than the size difference between les poilus.

I don't haveany of the Chasseurs Alpins, so cannot help you there.

Jaegers and British troops are from Renegade.  The 75 in the corner is an Askari 75 with the 1920s Legion Etrangere crew, but painted as 1914 French regulars.

Does anyone know how the Askari Desert Raiders match up to Artizan's Arab Irregulars?
