Following the lead of the wicker baskets:

How about stuff to fill up an antiquities store in Cairo (or elsewhere, although the contents may vary some from country to country)?

I'm of course looking for all kinds of 'middle'eastern' stuff (read: 'Ancient' Egyptian), but also 'newer' antiquities like chairs, small tables (wall mirrors?).

I would like to get the feel of a 'basement/partially illegal' store crammed with stuff, and there should be enough to fill at least a 3x6" area (with room for moving about a bit among the piles).

It's going to be a pivoting point for many egyptian affairs, as the owner is the source of all kinds of info/contraband for as well heroes as villains.... (I'm going to build the store/back room(s)/perhaps a cellar out of cardboard boxes when I get 'round to it). So I really need a lot of nit-bits and stuff - I guess, I'll be able to get some from Black Cat, when they have done some for the bases, I requested, but still..

See, just because I can't paint at the moment, I can still dream/plan things

Any suggestions?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Crocodile Games sell the artifacts that come with their Wargods of Aegyptus figures as separate items, see here.

There is plenty of stuff to choose from, such as :

And of course :

Another possible source is the old 1/72 Atlantic plastic soldiers which had three sets covering Ancient Egypt. These have been rereleased by Nexus and could make statuettes such as are often found in Egyptian tombs. IIRC, these were also released as 1/35 figures which could make larger statues.

1501 - At The Pharaoh's Court (contents can be seen here)

1502 - The Egyptian Army (contents can be seen here)

1503 - The Egyptian Cavalry (contents can be seen here)

Looking around the Plastic Soldier Review site, there are plenty of ancient Greek figures that could make interesting statues.

Hirst Arts have an excellent 'Egyptian Accessories' mold. It's quite large as it's designed for building terrain rather than antiquities but in a pinch it'll suffice for some larger pieces.

I used several casts from it for a Museum scenario last year:

REALLY nice gun crates, haven't noticed them before. They are a must for that 'back room' of the store.

The other stuff is excellent, too. Now I have to make a budget...

How about some antique furniture? I think Antenocity has some candleholders, think I have to go there to have a look, too....

I also need some raw wooden tables and stuff to diplay the goodies on....

Oh, yes - lots of promising titles - unfortunately a great lack of pics, but I'll have to take some chances anyway when I start piling up stuff for that project somewhen during the summer (I hope), ...and if a couple of purchases turns out to be not quite what I hoped for, they'll still be good enough for cramming in that store

Very good links here. This should be made sticky in a, I don't know, "Resources" topic.

Maybe we should ask the Prof to make a 'links page' or something similar to keep all this info stored for easier access....  Maybe some kind of 'inter-active' database where members can put links under different categories themselves, so the moderators wouldn't have to do the work other than monitor the contents....

This might be a totally nuts idea, as I'm not sure what would be the technical and/or economical needs for such a thing.

If I ever get the spare time to get a website of my own up and running, I'll certainly want to find a way to organize/present links in a user-friendly way, but until then, I'll probably have to skate the different topics of this and other fora

EDIT: The Prof just overtook me, there  :)
