Ideas on paintjob

Hi again!

One friend gave me this miniature of Viper, from Marvel Heroclix.

I'd like to repaint and re-base her as an evil nazi babe to use in my WWW campaigns. Question here is that, used to historical paintjobs, I can't decided on any "super-hero-paintjob" that doesn't look too silly for me.

I was thinking on a standard grey color for the uniform, but I'm afraid the miniature will look dull.

Any ideas or reference pics of similar characters will be welcome.

Well, it's  all a matter of taste off course, but either field grey or black would be the most appropriate, combined with blonde hair.
Maybe paint a small German eagle on her right breast where normal uniforms would have it?

A nice variant would be Luftwaffe Blue, with beige or lightbrown for the equipment bits.

The other alternative would be to base her costume on German flags of the period but that rapidly tends to veer towards the unrealistic.

You could also get some equipment bits from Bolt Action (helmets, peaked caps, gasmask cannisters, etc...) to hang from her belt and thus adding some historical touches.

Well, here she is at last...

She has a silver eagle over the breasts, but the shadow of the gun doesn't allow it to show. The mini is considerably tall for a 28 mm mini, so I'll use her as a German Supersoldier... A Walkyrie.

AWS rules say that the German Supersoldier formula didn't go too well... Yes, but that was until they tried it with women

I have a Captain America mini that I am repainting and it is okay in some place but the hands are just lumps.

I am also disappointed at how big the darned things are. Great for 32mm gaming but most of them don't work with 28mm figs.

I've got a repainted Cap. too, the one in the "charging" position. Detail was soft in places. On the other hand, the human torch, Hellboy, Lobster Johnson and Rasputin figures are finely detailed and seem a harder plastic than the Captain America figure. Got a few Horrorclix too: the lab experiment gorilla and the deep one. Most of the Heroclix figs I have work fine with 28mm, but the horrorclix stuff "really" is big

If you get another one of those KeyanSark, try her out in a black outfit with leather colored gear.

Id have done something more exciting with the hair. The "power" colours are red, black and white, so I would have used them more. I think Id have done her hair dyed bright red.

However, as she is an Aryian super babe I guess blonde is more approriate! It could do with brightening up a notch or two though. I would go over with a drybrush in white, followed by a glaze in yellow. Oh, by glaze I mean a wash. With a wash you let the paint, usually a darker tone, settle in the crevices. With a glaze you use a neutral or bright colour and spread it thinly and evenly over the surface of the model. YOu dont let it settle in the recesses and so it enlivens all the colours underneath.

Glazes are a great way to do yellow and reds. I often find that reds and yellows turn out too white or pinky, so a glaze reinforces the base colour without ruining all the tonal work you have already done.
