AT-43 minis as Weird WWII figs

What do people think about using some of the AT-43 miniatures as Weird WWII minis?

Specifically these walkers as Soviet walkers



But also the Tac Arms as US or German Power Armour

Seriously, I think that it is totally possible to convert them into Soviet warmachines.  Slap some red star and hammer and sickle decals on them and you're ready to go!  They'd look good with some Russian warning labels in some areas.

Yes, I can see those as Soviet Walkers.

I did plan on eventually getting Tac Arms for armored US or German power suits. I'm currently using old Citadel Imperial Dreadnoughts from 40K-RT painted with something like a 1944 ambush pattern camo and white and black crosses as German power suits. I wrote up the bolters as short range 20mm cannons.

I found a grainy pic of the two I painted up. It should give you a general idea.   The Führer's head on a robot was a kitbash with a head from Victory Force shoved into a piece of clear tubing, the kind used to protect paint brush bristles.

The "Führer in a jar" idea is also great!  :: It reminds me the old Castle Wolfenstein videogame... Oh, the memories... I remember buying a Sound Car for my old franken-puter in order to play that game as real men did  ::

I've been lurking for a while and thought I would make a first post here.

I'm planning to use the AT-43 Red Blok Walkers and grunts as alt-Soviets.

I'm guessing that being around 33mm, they will fit in nicely with Project X figs?

They aren't 33mm scale so they certainly won't. Much closer to 28mm than anything.

Not an issue for the walkers but the troops won't fit in with Project X troops at all.

Ouch! I thought the Project X figures were 1/48 approx 37mm tall.  :oops:

For the longest time, I thought AT-43 minis WERE wierd WW2 minis.  You can certainly see the influence on them.

I remember reading somewhere that AT-43 meant (Alternate Technology-1943).  I think long ago, that may have been the plan and it morphed into what it is. OR, maybe some speculation from other mini lovers started that rumor....either way.  AT-43 works for Weird WW2 for me!

As far as you can trust rumours on the net, I heard AT-43 evolved from Paolo Parente's alternative WW2 "Dust" concepts which were to be the basis for the game originally.

As for myself, I got me an AT-43 Spetsnatz Kolossus unit box, with 3 smallish russian walkers that just kick ass (inthe picture at the top of this thread, they're the one in the middle at the front, with a variant for the unit leader). They are armed with flamethrowers (two each) and seem like a perfect weapon one might conceive to go up against shambling hordes of nazi zombies...

Also, the Death Dealer Tac-Arms (with machine guns) would make fantastic Armoured Troops for the Nazi faction.  :twisted:
