Question:Renegade Miniatures early war french and others
« on: March 30, 2010, 05:26:19 PM »
Hi specialists

I have problems finding pictures of the Renegade early war french cavalry (not the new dragoons), So I'd be very greatful for any kind of pics that could show me how they look like - there aren't any on the site.

I would also appreciate hints and pictures of early war french miniatures without the folded greatcoat on, others then the renegade light infantry, be it infantry or cavalry or whatever
All with Kepi of course.

Please help

thank You
well, I've seen this one of course, and by the bugler it could be the command pack, but I still don't know if it is not a combination with the other pack. I would really like to know what is in each pack, cause 8 cavalry is a bit small for me as a unit.

I would also like to know if there are any figures that could fit these, possibly from other companies

Literally received a parcel from Renegade 10 minutes ago.
I ordered the cavalry regiment deal, (absolute bargain, £11-95 for 9 cavalry).
The regiment pack contains 1 Officer with pistol, 1 Bugler, 1 Standard Bearer, and 2 each of the 3 poses of trooper in the picture linked to above.
So, I would assume the Command pack is 1 Officer, Bugler & Standard, and the regular pack is 1 each of the 3 poses of trooper pictured?
Hope that helps.
(Oh, and the officer is the blurry mounted figure in the background of the picture)

Still, a chap ought to look smart in front of the men, don't you think?

THX very much, this helps indeed
I feared it might be 3 per pack, but the Regiment deal sounds good.

Are there possibly any others from other companies?

The Dragoons are by GWM - the Renegade Figures are I think Chasseurs despite being labelled Dragoons

Personally with so many shakos and kepis in the available figure options for the French I find helmets rather more interesting - and probably the use of the Dragoon and Curassier helmet is as characteristic of the French army of 1914 as the pantalon rouge - somehow Chasseurs don't do it for me -just my view of course (and Renegade please re-label the box from FRENCH CAVALRY DRAGOONS to something more accurate)

Well maybe so many is slightly OTT - and there are very few without greatcoats - as apparently in greatcoats was how most French units fought -seems strange in the heat of a French summer esp when the Germans didn't wear theirs - but the Belgians were the same despite having tunics too (and then of course the FFL in the heat of Morocco and Algeria etc still wore greatcoats). I think that Renegade are the only company doing figures on foot in tunics - GWM, BH, Foundry, Woodbine are all in greatcoats. Brigade in the US do Chasseurs Alpins in tunics that could serve for early or late war - in large floppy berets - now in the Alps is where i could imagine you would keep your greatcoat on - not thats where they fought of course

THX very much for the Info

I knew of this french Greatcoat affinity and feared most respective miniatures would be made in this way, but I did not know many companies that actually do early war french

maybe french policemen could be used as well
