Empress Miniatures Armoured Truck
« on: 31 March 2010, 08:36:14 AM »
We are pleased to announce the return of the Tallares Rio-Tinto armoured truck. This strange beast is typical of the improvised armour found during the Spanish Civil War. This is a simple two-part kit cast in durable resin.

Although specifically designed for the SCW it would also work for other games such as VBCW.

Please come and say high if you are at Salute. We are on stand TA26. All pre orders for Salute will guarantee we have what you want.

Rio-Tinto eh? Probably what they need next time one of their execs offers a Chinese Steel company boss a generous gift.   ;)

Looks good, but I shudder to think what an IED might do to it. How times have changed.

Not as much as you might think, many Spanish armoured trucks feature 'curtains' of hanging chains to defeat devices from being rolled underneath them. I recall seeing these on more modern vehicles to defeat RPGs from hitting the running gear, side skirts aren't able to go to ground level for obvious reasons.

Try taking the bugger off road though. I have a book floating around somewhere on the 1932 Revolution in Brazil that shows some of the home made armoured cars, wonderfully Heath Robinson, like this.

I like the 'armoured' trucks that just had mattresses roped to the sides. I can imagine words being said when that miliciano got home.  :D

Probably had more to do with the concept of the siesta (a brilliant cultural inovation if ever there was) than defence against bullet or bomb.  :)

I wonder how the  suspension and axles faired on that contraption.
