HF sell coloured sand now.  Thought I'd give "Mars" red a try.   :)

Great figure, lovely painting, and a very effective and unusual base which shows off the figure wonderfully.
But that laptop screen !!!  :o

Have you bought somekind of microscope you can paint under or something? Incredible detailing on another tiny miniature.

Lovely work.  A restrained choice of pallete set of nicely by the red ground.

Great!

Nice mini and lovely PJ.  But I'm a bit dubious about this coloured sand thing.  I've been told that there is a marvellous new invention called "paint" which allows you to turn sand any colour you like.
Back from the dead, almost.

She's an absolute beauty, but yea, not so hot on the red.  Perhaps, if you had broken it up some on the lighter side with orange or yellow.

I don't get these grymn. They just look like they're another scale. Not like dwarfs.

But LOVELY painting. Amazing detail.

And yes, the base looks completely undone compared to the figure. lol

Actually, I withdraw my previous snark.  By mixing different coloured sands, you could get some interesting effects that would be hard to produce any other way.

Probably because they are more "realistically" proportioned than the usual "waddling barrel on legs" GW-style dwarves. They are similar to the superb GW Lord of the Rings Dwarves, in this respect. If you saw them next to a standard human figure, you would probably appreciate them more  :)

Thanks chaps.   :)

Red sand is now sold by Hasslefree, so thought I'd try it.  Simple basework is a change for me, and I rather like it.

No microscope lol  I have always painted wearing an Optivisor though.  No point straining eyes.  And the laptop screen did take three attempts.   :)
