New DC Heroclix set, including "Civilians"
« on: April 08, 2010, 12:09:11 AM »
So, WK has a new set coming out. If has a new mechanic in it called alter Ego.
With this, it has "Civilian" versions of Clark Kent, Diana Prince, Bruce Wayne and Jason Blood, or, Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and Etrigan.

Some highlights

Clark Kent

Amazon Warrior, Goodness and Mercy, Ra's ah Guhl, Checkmate Units

Jason Blood and Etrigan

Looking for a set of rules that adaptable for different genres.

Dianna Prince

A jumble of images, but it shows some of the League of Assassin figures (in robes, would make good cultists) and Cave Carson (In a miner hat)

Also, why do the DC figs come on great big slabs of plastic when the Marvel ones come on two small discs, if abything, which makes the figs much harder to remove / clean up...

myincubliss,

those are 'dual' figures, 2 characters that often appeared in team-ups.  they shouldn't be any more difficult to 'de-base' than the ones on single sized bases. We've had them before, they were used in earlier releases as 'transporter' bases.

I think he means the formed base they are on that then sits on the clix base, some of the marvel ones I have only have two small discs around the feet while these DC have huge slabs of plastic that sits on the clix base.

Depending on the size of the "foot", they are sometimes easier to remove with a nice sharp blade. You just cut them off of the larger plastic base.

The nice thing with the more generic pieces is that they are common/uncommon, which means they are easier to get and won't cost a fortune on the secondary market.

They switched over to the crescent shaped base on the figures around the Justice League release I think.  Every figure since then has had that.  Marvel and DC.

I bought a case yesterday.  Surprisingly the paint jobs and sculpts are not as bad on many of the sculpts as the pictures make them appear to be.  There are many figures in this set that can be useful for all types of gaming.  I really like the League of Assassins.

I like the flat piece of plastic the figures come on.  It's a simple matter to separate them from the base, and then glue onto a washer.  A that's need paint wise is some touching up, perhaps a wash followed by some layers of sealant.  The figures tend to be a bit too bendy, I find 2-3 coats of spray gloss and a final coat of matte protect the miniatures and resolve the bendy issue.
