Captain Alatriste visits Poundland
« on: 08 April 2010, 05:50:58 PM »
Well, at least they have copies of "The Adventures Of Captain Alatriste" at my local in Dudley.

At last - they actually managed to stock something useful   :o  lol

Sadly only the first book in the series, but you never know what might turn up in the future......

Poundland tends to be hit and miss.  You have no idea what they'll have or if they'll have it again.  Buy it when you see it, but treat it as a one-off..........

Very true and I might add, if they have several buy as many as you can. At least you can pass them on to fellow gamers if you don't need them.

Poundland? You should have been in ST Records (if it is still there) - the first place to go in Dudley

The only one I go to in Dudley is the one at Merry Hill, and there is now a cheaper shop almost next door.

My GF had to drive me to Merry Hell for a job interview at GW....

Oh, Birmingham's only up the road from Warwick! Bollocks! And then the buggers went and told me there WASN'T a vacancy AFTER they said I COULD and WOULD have the job!!!!!!  >:(

But yes, Poundland is very hit and miss.  :?

Probably due to the exorbitant rent that owners Chelfield charge the shops. Even the biggest stores, such as Smiths often have to downsize and the small ones often disappear after only a few months. The Poundland there is next to useless too, in terms of decent wargames potential  :(

Mind you, the GW in Birmingham isn't exactly enormous either and keeps migrating around the city centre. I tried to visit just after Christmas whilst my son was with his class seeing a play and it had moved again. That's at least 4 moves in less than 20 years. Maybe Terry Pratchett used it as inspiration for his moving shop  ::)
