Schinderhannes - a german outlaw and highwayman
« on: 15 April 2010, 10:45:05 PM »
There was a time, when the german forests of the „Hunsrück“ bear a lot off fearfull things, especially one of the most famous outlaws in german history: Schinderhannes.
His real name was Johannes Bückler. But why he was called Schinderhannes: Johannes, nickname Hannes (in English John, resp. Jack) begann his apprenticeship to a tanner, a so called Schinder or „Schinner“ in german slang of that time.
That is the secret of his name: Schinderhannes.
For more information look here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schinderhannes

Around 1800 AD Germany was divided in several countries and principalitis. The french revolution brought the decline of law and justice to the left bank of the river rhine, because the former princes fled before the french revolutionary army, and the french legal system was not totally establishd at that moment.
So – with this background – I will tell you a story, a story not even history in every aspect.
Just have fun with it.

„Hummm“, Lieutenant  La Tete said to his fellow comrades, „what the hell is going on here. Somewhere, out there, must be the bastard. I hate it to search the whole forest, but i think we have to start here.“

Strange things in the country.

What’s with this coffins ??

What is with  the barrels and boxes ?

And pigs ??? Why pigs ???

Are the girls disgusted, or are they afraid ?

Take the maidservants a walk ?

O.K. mother thinks, „all quiet on the western front ....“

A lot of questions. Maybe the answer will come soon.

"Why pigs?"

Sheesh, pigs are justification unto themselves. Any game is better with a herd of porcines perambulating on the battlefield. ;)

That is some nice stuff. Had seen it over on Sweetwater, but somehow failed to comment on it. I've always wanted to do a "Wirtshaus im Spessart" game myself, but never could get my succulent posterior elevated enough.

PARENTAL ADVICE PARENTAL ADVICE NOT FOR PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 ;D ;D

The following model is made by a friend of mine, Jens Najewitz: He said the prophetic words to me. "A good project is only a good project, if the stuff you combine in your mind with the the protagonists of the scenario is represented in the right way."

And what's about our hero: Yes, decapitated in sight of the walls of Mainz together with his fellow comrades.
So I think the morbid, terrific but so "efficient" killing machine of the french revolution has to be displayed.
Just have a look at the other models and buildings of Jens; they are really, really great.

http://www.lasermodellbau.de/

Don't be afraid. There are no rules for such a thing, but I think it's an eyecatcher on the battlefield.

The models are models of Jens'. They are not part of the game.

I've seen Jens' stuff. He is a very talented fellow! I'm collecting Eureka's Wars of the french Revolution line and hope to run some Scarlet Pimpernel-style games so I will need one of these eventually!

What's about those guys with the funny caps?
Yes, they are survivors of the siege of Mainz in the year 1793.  ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Mainz_(1793)

Jacobites and fellowmen of Andreas Joseph Hofmann.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andreas_Joseph_Hofmann

In my story, these jacobites, especially the younger radicalists, flew through the gates of Mainz, pursuited by austrian and prussian troopers, just to hide themselves in the forrests of the Hunsrück. Here they swear an oath of hate against all authorities. They want to live a life of their own without restriction. So they met Schinderhannes and are now a part of his band.  ;)

Hei Koppi,

I've also seen the pics on Sweetwater.

Realy good stuff (also the to buildings, and I like their realistic size) :)

But the bad thing is, now I'm infected by your virus.
Have to do something similar with Andreas Hofer ( I'm half "Südtiroler"). o_o

Keep on doing

Hi Comsquare,

yes at the moment I show the pictures also on sweetwater. But here the response is much better, and I think I will post them here in the future.
Yes, Andreas Hofer is also an interesting theme, when you come from Austria or Tyrol and the figs of Eureka are really great.
If you are interested in buildings, just write Jens an E-Mail. Maybe he build you a special building for the alp region. O.K. you have to invest some money but the result is awesome.

I think I will contact him as soon as I'm starting with that project.

But I'm not sure if my next project will be Andreas Hofer or a Samurai Myth thing.

Allways that decisions... lol

So, vi snakkas

P.S.: I'm listen right now to his sons Metallband, really not bad

Deep in the forest you find a farmers homestead.
Here the bandits held their victims at bay.

Also this young man.

The whole group in front of the two different buildings (the buildings, like the guillotine, are produced by www.lasermodellbau.de).

In my story both buildings will represent the scenario victory points.
