My weird German Army
« on: April 27, 2010, 11:01:45 AM »
Well the start of it anyway!  I got some of my truppen finished off over the weekend, a fireteam and a LMG team:

Here are the Assault Rifle guys up close:

And the LMG team- Ive since made the gunner's targeting eye red as I didnt like it in these pics.

Got to admit that I found the late war German camo a bit daunting to start with, but got into the groove of it by the end.
It looks a lot more impressive when its not against a green backgroundand actually doing its job! Honest!  ::)

Now just waiting for my next set of figures to arrive...damn volcanic ash disrupting air mail...

These look great. I really like the camo. Did you use a step by step guide or anything?

I have some Fantasy WW2 dwarves to paint and that could be an interesting colour scheme.

I don’t really like the figures but the paintjob on them is excellent. Real nice 8)

Just finished up a pair of German Snipers:

Number Eins - crouching in Fall oak leaf camo pattern smock

Number Zwei - standing in summer oak leaf pattern.  I added some extra cam bits to the poncho, which tuned out pretty well without over-doing it I think

Very nice. The junker vampire painted up better then I expected. I never bought it because I did like how looked on the box art. I like your color scheme a lot better.

Hi guys, long time no new eye-candy from me- sorry! Trying to fix that by finishing my Hetzer (by Bolt Action Minis).

I am making a IR/improved sight being to go on the top deck above the gun, and ditched my initial idea to make track skirts and a heavy missile launcher (the missile I had will make a much better SAM launcher!)

Got the basic cam job done now, awaiting weathering and some detailing.  I tried to do something a little different than classic Ambush scheme cam to reflect the later time period, but fear I may have gone a bit far and it doesnt seem very German anymore (though I used a West German style as its basis).

I think its a bit flat and needs something more before I start the weathering process.  I did try some ambush style dots in the brown waves but it looked more like Australian Aboriginal artwork than camo!
