HOTT games with Warmaster miniatures
« on: April 30, 2010, 10:29:48 PM »
I like HOTT and I have Warmaster miniatures, so I use them as they are to play Warmaster and HotT as well.

Looks like plenty of fun! =) Nice looking games too.

I bought the HOTT rules last year, but haven't really gotten into it. Also purchased a bucket-full of Splintered Lands minis at the same time...

Splintered Lands is a line from Splintered Lights:
http://www.splinteredlightminis.com/druidschildren.html

Sculpted by Bob Olley, a bit on the large side for 15mm (more like 18mm) but really really high quality stuff. I love them!

It works if you're not too fuzzy with scale. An element of 15mm minis next to an equally sized element with these next don't look too bad. In HOTT it's not like one mini represent one individual anyways.

Jet and I played a bit of Hott with our old WM figs not too long ago. It was quite enjoyable I must say!  ;)

This is the only way to play HOTT in my opinion. It looks so much better than in 15mm.

I'm running a big battle HOTT game at our local convention this month. I'm using 15mm Medievals for the humans, and 10mm Copplestone Orcs as Goblins. Copplestone's wolf riders nicely proportion themelves against 15mm horses and Copplstone Ogres look as if they stand 10 feet tall against a 15mm human figure. I posted a sneak peak.

That is some bloody impressive stuff.

I might buy some for Age of Might and Steel. :)

Looks like fun :)

I have a quick question(s) for those of you who have figures based for Warmaster:

Do you use pairs of bases to make square Elements for HoTT?

Or do you simply use each rectangular Warmaster base as an Element?

Or does having square elements matter?

Thanks!

HoTT elements are not necessarily square. Actually, most are wider than they are deep.

Most things are actually 20mm or 30mm deep with 40mm frontages. The rules state, as long as the frontage is 40mm, then the depth isn't important. Same applies for Age of Might and steel.
