Italian uniforms ww1-2
« on: May 13, 2010, 05:50:29 PM »
was looking at these ww1 italians and was wondering if they'd be useable in ww2, rifles should be the same (1891 carcano)
the helmets look like they'd be the big issue, but might work for "home guard"?

Any thoughts?

Nope, sorry. The Italian uniform had completely changed by WW2, a conscious effort by the Regio Esercito to present a "modern face." The tunic becomes a casually cut double breasted piece, worn with a shirt and tie, as opposed to the single breasted, high collared tunic of WW1. The pants essentially become Jodphurs, or a simplification thereof, as the war progresses.  The closest thing to a "Home Guard" would be the various MVSN/CCNN militias and the "Reserve" formations of the Army. The Adrian helmet was dropped after the Spanish Civil War, although you do see it in use, occasionally, by civil air defense, policemen, etc.
