Coastal Motor Boat

I was inspired to build a CMB by the contests run here but knew I'd never get the vehicle done in time. If you check out the "Workbench" part of the Company B website (http://homepage.mac.com/brentdietrich/companyB_greens.htm) you can see my working model and LT Gus Agar. It should be available soon for those of you (and me!) who want to recreate the sinking of the Oleg and attack on the Red fleet near Kronstadt/Leningrad. I can't wait to see the final, finished product, perhaps ready by the Enfilade convention. Woo hoo!

I could see a number of pulpish uses for this, actually!

There's a young adult adventure novel from the last few years involving a couple of teenagers on a mysterious freighter bumming around the South China Sea in the 20s, very much in the classic pulp genre. There's a great torpedo boat attack scene there - we can run it in 28mm now... after you hire a gym for a playing area!

(The book was "Operation Red Jericho" by Joshua Mowll; I see there's a sequel out now too. Neat books, lots of maps, diagrams and extra bits as well as a great pulpish story. Must re-read them!)

I was inspired by the book Operation Kronstadt. Essentially you get two stories for the price of one - MI6 has the only agent in Bolshevik Russia and is trying to get him out AND how the LT Agar and the CMBs take on the entire Red fleet. Really a great read and a must have for anyone interested in this period.

I got the model this weekend at Enfilade. It looks REALLY good though I recognize some rookie construction errors like I should have glued the fins onto the torpedo before sending it to production (I kept everything seperate because that's what I thought I was supposed to do...  ) I'm going to put it all together and include a bunch of pictures of my progress. My daughter and grandson are visiting from across the country so it might not be until next week before I get started.
