Horrorton *Mini frankenstein added 25/10*
« on: 28 May 2010, 09:31:59 PM »

I just listened to a audiobook of The Hobbit and thought a zombie Gollum would be fitting.

EDIT: Oh and I'm obviously inspired by the beautiful work of PappaMidnight with regards to base and blood.

Thanks dude. I'm hoping to do a lot more horror in the days to come. I just keep finding models that I have to paint.

Unfortunately I also keep tying down my hobby time with commissions or projects... argh

Thanks random people! Happy that you like the little bugger.

The blood is done by stabbing some tamiya red ink and tamiya smoke at it and mixing the two and giving several cotes. After matt varnish of course.

I believe that the tamiya colours have been banned in the EU though (they work - we can't allow things that work)

Our local hobby shop should stock them. Drop me a note if you need any, and I'll go have a look.

Very nice, now if only that hand coming out of the bag had a ring finger missing, from getting the One Ring back. That would add a little something more to it.

Whoops. I need to fix that edge...  lol

I painted the other dude that was in the blister along with Zollum.

I really think that these figures aren't that bad. They're from the Privateer Press game called Warmachine. I have seen plenty of figs from that game which I though were utter rubbish. But these cryx aren't that bad I think. A bit spacey but not that bad.

As for the painting I have just watched Star Wars with the kids and thought I'd try a "Darth Vader without the head gear" approach to the head of this one. My camera didn't like me today though. Much more contrast in real life.

It may still be available but it should be for a short time (if it sells..)

One distributor said that Tamiya doesn't want to come clean about what's in their paint (that being the reason)

Another said it was due to the EU chemistry act (name escapes me) and the lead in the ink.
