Seperate heads with pith helmets
« on: May 29, 2010, 10:24:23 PM »
Since I just love to browse this forum and read through all the old posts (new ones too of course) I came across an old post complaining about not having pith helmets to use for conversions.

Now I don't know if this has been posted yet, so I do it anyway because I really like how the little guys turned out. Just see for yourselves:

(The pic isn't the best quality as I took it in a rush with (obviously) not enough light.)

They are the beginning of a small force of colonial style Imperial Guard. Not sure about the color scheme yet ... I am thinking of a scheme either Seebatallion or British colonial troops in Sudan. Not sure though as the heads clearly favor the British style. The beards just scream Victorian Age at you.

Here's the link to the manufacturer:

Just thought I should share this. Happy painting guys.

Excellent stuff.

Uniform ideas can be found here.

Those heads look good on those bodies. Must say I am not too keen on them as is out of the box.

Empress do seperate head sprues in metal too if you want more variety

I agree, if you build them straight out of the box, they look a bit ... "flimsy" ... there sure are better ones. They also do not fit the heroic 28mm scale at all, but the heads do nicely. And I can live with the head/cost ratio.  ;)

Svennn's suggestion for the Empress heads is a very good one. I have a few and they are well worth considering.

nice

wouldn't have expected them to fit that well with GW.

if You are going to use the cadian arms as well, I would recommend a bit of imperial or bretonnian WFB heraldry for the shoulder pads to get them a bit more in style with the pith helmets

I actually converted up some "Black Dutchmen" for my Dutch force out of Wargames foundry bodies, with a mix of Perry and Warlord plastic pieces. They are salvagable with a little work.
