Has anyone done any work on creating warbands to use with the CIC rules?

That sounds like a very interesting idea.  I was working on some Chaos rules for X-Com UFO defense, but those fell through.  A Innsmouth or Call of Cthulhu version of the game would be pretty cool.  Many of the warbands can be easily based on existing ones.  Although I imagine the Deep One Hybrid warband would work a little differently.

I was thinking that the four basic warbands could be

Investigators (Academics and their teams)
Authorities (G-men and local police)
Cult of the Old Ones (Human cultists with summoned creatures)
Terror from the Deep (Deep Ones, Priests and Hybrids)

Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten
(Of Unspeakable Cults)

In which, evil cults battle each other for possession of occult items and knowledge as well as the favor of the cruel and tenebrous gods while attempting to avoid detection by the United States Government and thwart each others dastardly schemes.

Got a timeline so I don't spend a lot of time duplicating your product? :-)

I was thinking along these lines for the war bands.  In some cases the base war band can be used for multiple Cthulhu war bands.  Such as the Cult of Set working equally well as the Order of the Silver Twilight, or the Brotherhood of the Beast.

Investigators or Miskatonic University Expedition : The Archeologists from Chaos in Cairo.  The group is a mix of brainy and beefy types, fairly heroic, and with Academic and financial backing.

Order of the Silver Twilight or the Brotherhood of the Beast: The Cult of Set works well as a 'sophisticated' cult of any kind really.  Their friends in High places and Low places works well for these secret societies run by the elite, but employing thugs and criminals.  This could even function as a European Witch Cult coven.

The Agency or B.P.R.D. task force: Monster Hunters.  Like the Archeologists it's a very heroic group, but with more of a emphasis on containing and eliminating the supernatural.  Monster Hunters have more brawny types than brainy.

Innsmouth Vigilantes or Cult of Dagon: Not sure what war band to go with these guys.  It would be a mix of Humans, Hybrids and full-blown deep ones.  They wouldn't be as sophisticated as the previous cults.  More of an emphasis on brute force and terror.  I'm almost thinking of a adapted Werewolf war band.  With a little work the potential war band could also function as Pawns of the Mi Go, or a Shub Niggerauth cult.  The war band structure being a mix of human lackeys, cultists and monsters.

Two other things that ought to be explored as well.  First the matter of Magic, the cultists groups ought to have some.  I don't know if it ought to be a new system entirely, or a expansion on the gifts of the Nameless ones.  Just to keep things simple, I'd go with the latter.  The vampires, werewolves and mummies all have abilities that could be converted into gifts / spells.  The same can be done with equipment, with guns or other weapons acting as 'spells' that can be used through out the battle.

Special Characters I feel would require the most amount of work.  Potentially it could be a mix of specialists, sorcerers for hire and mythos monsters.  Here's a few examples, although I'm not sure what their stats will end up being.

Ghoul Guide:  Will work for any war band except for 'Monster Hunters'.  I'm thinking the Ghoul will be a mix of stealth, combat and some post battle help.  I think it would be amusing if your war band is able to kill a member of a opposing war band, the Ghoul will forgo his usual fee.

Mi-Go Scout:  Will work for any war band except 'Archeologists' and 'Monster Hunters'.  The Mi-Go Scout would be one of the first flying units in the Chaos System I imagine.  The Scout would have a emphasis on mobility, ranged offense and terror.

Lurking Byakee:  Will work for the 'Cult of Set' war band.  The Byakee is much like the Mi-Go scout, except it's a close combat attacker.

Sorcerer:  Will work for any war band.  The Sorcerer's focus is on magic 'nameless one's gifts, and brainy stuff.  I could see giving him a ranged attack using one of the guns as the base, and calling it Eldiritch fire or something like that.

IIRC The first Chaos in Cairo had magic that was VERY Mythos-inspired. I never doubted that the Nameless Ones were, in fact, the Great Old Ones or Outer Gods...

It would be nice to get a print copy or PDF version at the very least.  I'd like to check out the old magic rules.

I think I have them scanned - PM me later today (say, in 8-9 hs or so), and I'll see if I can dig them out from the hard drive.

Other wise, I DO have the original ruleset, so a quick run-of-the-mill scan should be possible.

I couldn't find either a hard or electronic copy.  Pity, I'd pay for either of them.

Was the original book available as PDF at any point?
