I actually agree on the Pulp tramp steamer sailors. They look like they're somewhat of a serious step back compared to his other more recent work.
The rocketmen and Weird menace figures I have are much better though.

As for Brigade sailors, I think (this in no way engages my liability if proven wrong) that both sets were sculpted by Richard "Woody" Ansell. I've got one of the merchant seamen packs because I needed another Haddock and was too lazy to sculpt him from scratch again. They are very good figures.

But I think we're drifting here. Wasn't this an Artizan thread?

No offence old chap, after all Elizabethans is no more off-topic than Dan Dare.

None taken dear fellow   Anyway, I love Dan Dare/ (Almost as much as I love The Trigan Empire - remember that?)

Besides, are you talking historical Elizabethans or Errol Flynnesque ?

Oh Errol Flynnesque, definitely. Swashbuckling and intrigue - Doctor John Dee, Papish plotters, the villainous Bullens, Hawkins, Drake and Frobisher, The Duke of Norfolk, Spanish raids in The West Country, Reivers burning the Marches - all that lot. Fun. :)

But no, they don't belong here, so I'll move them somewhere else!

Remember the Trigan Empire ?
Certainly do !

Do you think that they would classify as Pulp ?

Romans with ray-guns and spaceships fighting against various monsters and arabs.
They don't write 'em like that anymore !

Thank god they don“t, that right-wing propaganda piece was very, very hard to stomach. I guess you have to grow up with it.

I had a Trigan Empire book bought for me in Eindhoven when I was six. I loved it.

As the text was all in Dutch, any political message it may have had totally failed to take hold.  :)

I have the whole Trigan Empire range in Dutch, but I don't mind, as I am Dutch
They are all out in English now as well I believe. The Dutch Don Lawrence fanclub made new versions in Dutch and English.

But, back on topic... Lovely greens    :)
