Is this tank anything?

My rule about VSF (in as much as I have one) is that, if it was real, it isn't VSF.  Not a great rule, but its mine and I'm sticking to it.

Anyway, this looks like a nice VSF-y tank, with lots of gun ports and rivets, but does it represent a real vehicle?  The guy who put up the web page seems to think not, but also doesn't seem very sure.

Well it looks to me like this vehicle consists of the hull of a WWI British Male tank and the turret of one of the WWII British tanks.
Jane! Stop this crazy thing!

No. It's sort of mashup between a WW1 Mk IV male and a WW2 Churchill.

For real interwar British tanks take a gander at Copplestone Castings "Back of Beyond" range of tanks, such as the Vickers MkII Medium and the Vickers Independant heavy.

Actually it's more of a mash up of a MkVIII Liberty with a Hollywood turret. Remove the turret, build a new superstucture and with a  little work you  will have a passable MKVIII.

The US had about 100 of the things between the wars, backbone of their tank force up until the early 1930s.

I get a dead link there.

Yeah the link is a dead end but Google Images for "MkVIII Liberty tank" and you get loads. Nifty looking tank.

And I'd have to admit is probably a source of inspiration for the Last Crusade tank.

"My rule about VSF (in as much as I have one) is that, if it was real, it isn't VSF.  Not a great rule, but its mine and I'm sticking to it."

Considering the real stuff is 100% weirder and better looking than the rivet boxes most minis gamers associate with VSF that's a silly rule to have.

Can you honestly say no to stuff like this? Or to the idea that one of the first modern tank prototypes was electric? Or that an (fortunately/unfortunately) underpowered prototype rail-gun was made in 1915 or there abouts?

Look at real vehicles and technology history, people will think you're making it up. :)

It's my rule, but rules are made to be broken.  :D
