Sorry for posting on an old thread, but here is a recent photo of my hobby desk setup:

I've been putting it together over the last year or so, as the hobby space I wish I'd had when I was younger.
More money has been spent than would seem sensible, but I see it as an investment into aiding many years of comfortable and hopefully productive hobbying.

The one major thing that I still think is lacking though is light. The shelves have LED strips under them, there's the black desk lamp and the magnifier also has it's own light, but it still doesn't feel quite enough.
Either I add an arch lamp, spots in the ceiling or both, but I'm worried a arch lamp will take up too much space on the desk and make getting to the storage drawers harder.

old it may be but its the workbench thread, and its always good for inspiration and random ressurection.

I wish I could sort out a setup half as good as many pictured.

As for light, if not already look for some sort of "daylight" bulb/lighting, it makes a huge difference compared to simply LED and normal spectrum lighting.

Regardless that's a really nice setup and hope you get years out of it  :D

I do wonder though, how many ears you have..

Thanks.

I'll look into more daylight simulating options. The LED strips on the shelves are fairly cool, the black lamp has 3 temp settings, with the middle one feeling the most natural, while the magnifier boasts high CRI, also with different temp options. I'd always heard that people generally find very cool lighting quite fatiguing, but I haven't tested that personally.
There is a window just out of frame on the right, but the desk is a little too inset to really get much light from it.

If this was more of a meme space I'd attach an image of Dolph Lundgren's necklace from the film Universal Soldier...lots of ears, just not all of them mine.
As for the headphones; that's not the half of it, a previous hobby of mine was buying faulty headphones and repairing them. I've ended up with so so many.

Yep, so easy to let happen. The reason I went mad with the storage was to waylay the exact same thing happening to me, as it has so many times before.

That's an incredible space. I'm hugely jealous, especially of the spray booth.

Thanks,

yes, I have 2 dedicated spaces : one room exclusively for miniature modelling and gaming, about 20 meter square, with a 180cm x 130cm gaming table, and a airbrush paint station -with a 24L compressor). The other room is shared between my other hobbies, video retrogaming/computing (amiga computers), figures painting and digital music.

Yikes. That puts my humble walk in closet room to absolute shame!

Not hooks - part of the shelf bracing.

lol It very much does look like it - needs more white, more oil, and … that smell …  lol

Never. How could I? They’re not hooks. They meet the shelf, and are welded to it. Impossible to catch anything on it. You could put things through the loop, like spare tubes I suppose. You can hang stuff from it, but it’s 100% OSHA safe.  lol
