Inspiring Comicbook
« on: 17 June 2010, 10:49:52 PM »
Hey,

just found that, haven't red it, just the try-out version, but sounds like a nice inspiration for WWW2.

It's about old nordic Gods fighting side by side with Nazis, except Loki, who helps the Allies.
It's set in the '60 and Germany nearly won.

Anybody of you who red it and could tell a little more about it?

I wasn't all that impressed with it but it is very WWWII.  Check out the Light Brigade, now that was AWESOME!

I agree with Brian on both counts.

Although the first part (the WW2 bit) was good enough.

Nothing beats the Light Brigade so far though.

I have the "Light  Brigade" allready and have to agree with you, it's really a good comic, enjoyed it very much.

Read also a reference about the "Life Eaters", which says nearly the same as you.
I'm not sure if I will give it a try.

Any other good WWW2 comics out there?
I have "Common Foe", "30 Days of night"-versionand maybe 2/3 more.

The Lost Squad and High Roads are both great WWWII/Pulp fun.  Both or a bit tongue and cheek but I still haven't found a series WWWII comic like the Light Brigade.  You can always pick up some old Weird War Tales, the Invaders, All Star Squadron, Sgt. Rock and Sgt. Fury to get a great taste of WWWII as well.  Dust has some great eye candy but the story just blows!  Looks like it was a rushed project or something but the art is Panzer Porn/Cheesecake at it's finest.

The Iron Ghost is ok. Not really any supernatural elements but has a Shadow/Batman like vigilante hunting nazi's in Berlin.

There's also the first hellboy books and one of the BPRD stories set in 1946.
And there's a graphic novel of The Keep which is much better than the movie although the artwork is in a mignola-esque style.

What's the Light Brigade about? Do you have to know the biographies of a dozen DC (or Marvel) characters, or can anyone enjoy it?

I recently read the first book of Atomic Robo but it was awful. I can't think of any other.

The Light Brigade is a stand-alone story. No characters from other comics. It's about a squad of regular GI's really.

Not to be confused with the new Dust Wars comic that has recently been released.

Based on the short story "Captain America versus Thor", which appears in the Brin collection "River of Time". I always liked the story - I'll have to check out the comic now. (Luckily, I'm headed to my FLCS this very afternoon!)
from Mr.Vampire: "It's the paintjob that makes the miniature fight harder not the size."

Be sure to look for another Cap WWWII book called the Other World War.  It has Cap, Fury and the Red Skull fighting in the dimension that Dr. Strange's arch nemesis is from, Dormommue (or however it is spelled).  Pretty good single shot story with lots of ass kicking.

Sounds interesting, will have to look after it.

I have somewhere the WildC.A.T.S./X Men Golden Age, which I liked, also from the painting-style.
As I remember right, Wolvie is there an normal SAS and finds a bladed glove which he uses.
Have to read it again, I guess :)

Anyone remember the awesome promo comic for WW2 superheroes game "Godlike"? It was in Dragon or Dungeon magazine. And only in that magazine. Been trying to find the bloody thing for years, because at the time I'd only got a couple of isssues while it was running. :-[
