That' what a call NINJA!
« on: June 21, 2010, 07:13:41 PM »
In White Dwarf #81 (september 1986), there's an add for the Oriental Heroes - OH1 Ninja pack, with 12 ninja minis and information on their background, tactics, weaponry and stats for Warhammer.

The last phrase: The .45 automatic is not a traditional ninja weapon, but it may be used in Warhammer if the referee sees fit. Citadel takes no responsability for the consequences.

"Because life is made of inspiration, dreaming and insanity in about equal measure."
- Erzsébet Báthory - 1560-1614 (?)

There is no way that the play on names would be allowed today, some of them also show an ignorance of Japanese culture.
'So do all who see such times. But that is not for us to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that we are given.'

The names - and the minis themselves - are not supposed to be serious, just plain fun and sarcastic. That was the spirit in the 80s!

If my children ever ask me,

"So how were the Eighties like, Dad?"

I'll just show them that pistol-armed ninja o_o

Well, even for 80s standards, they fail at that. Those are not even groanworthily bad. They are just bad.

(And I should know, I minored in Punning and Wordplay back then, and boy, was I bad)

There's nothing wrong with wordplays!

The ninjas are awesome by the way, but its impossible to fail when you make a ninja model...

And still, Ninjas should stick to swordplay.

I think that if GW did that in a catalogue today there would be more than a few complaints..........
