Crazy Artists?
« on: 27 June 2010, 04:13:55 PM »
Working on the art for Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten and am trying to distance the look from Strange Aeons. Anyone have any ideas about artists? Any of you artists? The pay will be crap and the hours long but for a fistfull of figures and rules some may be bold enough...send me a PM or respond here.

Yes, I am an artist!

What kind of work do you want? I'm best at drawing.

I'm not an artist, but I do have the cover art for Cosmic Horror. Since CH won't be released commercially, you can use it on your products. It's such a cool drawing, it'll be a shame if it won't be used at all in a printed product. I can check if the artist (Melvin de Voor) will allow it. In addition, I have several sketches by Melvin intended for Cosmic Horror. I think he'll like his art's being used in printed product.
Let me know if you'd like that and I'll ask him.

Christian,

(And this goes for anyone...) Slightly over-the-top images of sacrifice/mayhem and general cultish dealings. Spot art, borders...pretty much anything right now. Still trying to 'solidify' the look.

Mal,

That is a very generous offer...why not PM me and I'll try and make it worth your while. And thanx again Mal, for being a supportive dude.  :)

I thought this was going to be another concept for lurkers...

A surrealist artist who delved a bit too deep for inspiration...?

Anyway, I sent you a pm Mike :)

At some point we will most likely do a 'Crazy Artist' profile for Strange Aeons, some sort of crossover between Pickman and Lovecraft...I'm enthralled with the idea that Lovecraft's twisted and powerful psyche actually forces the creatures he conceives into being in our reality...could end up being a campaign at some point down the road.  ???

There's some of that in Robert Chamber's King in Yellow fiction.  Also you haven't per chance seen the recent Doctor Who episode with Vincent Van Gogh?  It's less about bringing these creatures into reality, and more being able to perceive them.

Chambers "The King in Yellow" is a fair collection of short stories but it didn't't hold my attention well.  What I have read typically (from my opinion) deal with madness often from the perspective of the affected subject.  Perspective can be difficult to grasp.  I sold my copy...and don't miss it.

In one of the Hellboy stories a clairvoyant goes over the edge after taking some drugs to boost his abilities. He comes back possessed by an ectoplasmic tentacle monster which tries to escape into the world through his mouth.

I'm sure there's something in that for the crazy artist arechetype ;)

I like what Paul Carrick does. No idea about how much he would charge, though...

There was a recent comic series along those lines, potentially the Marvel one 'the strange adventures of H.P Lovecraft', where Lovecraft dreamt and unleashed horror on the world...
