Optivisors?
« on: June 29, 2010, 10:09:32 PM »
I been looking around a bit for a set of optivisors, as my eyes are very strained lately, even when painting larger details.

When I google, I find some at Amazon, but when I click on them I get the message, that they do not exist in the Amazon catalogue, or that the shopping cart does not recognize the item.

Have some of you had better luck, and where did you buy, and for what price?

 ??? ??? ??? ???
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

I bought mine from www.miniaturicum.com.

Although they are not listed on the site, Optivisors are readily available. Just drop them a line.

I do not remember what I paid, though.

I bought mine from Front Rank.  Can't remember the price, though.

Well, I'll soon have no choice, as my arms won't be long enough  lol

A word on the magnification level: I use the 1.5x, and really like them for sculpting, but they have a rather limited field of focus, which can be a bit tricky, as everything not nearby is blurred. So switching sculpting tools is either a bit of guesswork or tilting your head back. Vikotnik's is 1.3 (iirc), you might want to ask him how he manages.

You might have a look at these:

If you have specs:
http://www.eschenbach-optik.com/de/Modellbau_Basteln.788.0.html?&cHash=0482b0417c&tt_products=164620%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20

If you have no specs:
http://www.eschenbach-optik.com/de/Modellbau_Basteln.788.0.html?&cHash=de7a55807c&tt_products=164452%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20

Both are available in different magnification levels and are around 40-50 EUR.
Just ask your local optician.

Cheers,
Michael
