Tew-Fah Bridge (lasercut building kit)
« on: July 07, 2010, 01:48:18 PM »
Now that I finished the watchtower i have sorted the bridge to match it.

Will be a single A4 sheet and therefore around £5.

Good name. Is there a reason for the asymetrical shape or is it a design desire? Looks a bit odd having one of the end essentially unsupported.
So many projects..... so little time.......

I wanted to call the bridge Qwi but i was told not to by people with low pun tolerance! :)

The asymmetric design is intentional - I wanted to do something that matched with the idiosyncratic style of the rest of the buildings. I guess its one of those love or hate things - but i wanted it to be different.

One end of the bridge isn't unsupported, it's designed to mate to other buildings etc, so when it's installed (like the prototypes in this link) it doesn't look unsupported. The holes in the ends of the bridge accept 4mm magnets that hold the bridge in place.

The design is also intentional to allow a gate component to be made to fill in the arch allowing an asymmetrical fort gate to be made.

like the models
may I allow to suggest a slight redesign that allows for a mirror assembly?
or is it already possible anyway?

Hi... Not sure what you mean by mirror assembly? Do you mean the bridge with the arch reversed?

If so yes that's already possible.

something like that - to enable building a double bridge, with a pillar support in the middle

I mean it's Your model, but as far as I can see from the lasercut plan, the two different sides on the top might be a problem?
maybe I'm wrong

I made a similar enquiry previously. The top barriers can be put on either side.

thx - I just checked it again myself in the assembly instruction

so now, only thing we need is a quadruple pillar with plinth and impost to support the middle   ;)
