Aliens / SH project - Painted Gripping Beast Marine
« on: July 16, 2010, 11:09:05 PM »
One of the GB Colonial Marines I picked up a while ago. Painted by Dave Allen who is a very talented guy and all round nice chap as well. Only got the one fig done as a sort of prototype. Was really happy with the paint job and I think the scheme is spot on. Was never really convinced on the GB models even if they the most realistic to the USMC. Thisifig is one of the better sculpts and without being to negative, some of the figs, particuarly the smart gunners, look like Elves at some costume convention. Decide to use the helmets on the Em4 guys and recieved some the other day and they seem to be about the right scale.

Nice paintjob on the marine and definitely two thumbs up for the effort on the base.

Yep, strange. But when you click on them and they open in a new window that appear fine. Strange indeed. :-)

I thought he might be a from new space Dwarves range when I saw the first two pics  lol

I like both camo schemes on him, but I agree with the Commander, maybe too much on one figure. One scheme with slight variations of shade on armour and clothing to differentiate them might look better.

Not that I'm criticizing your painting, as he's very well done indeed. I find shading camo uniforms diificult, but yours looks very natural. The light thingy on his helmet is especially good  :-*
