15 mm Franco Prussian

Hi,

Just got the excellent 1870 rule book in the mail, and I'm looking to start up a 15 mm collection of Franco Prussians to match. Who has the best range in terms of sculpting quality?

By the way, any good hints on great terrain suppliers for this period.

Believe it or not the minifugs figs used to be really good.
Easy to paint too.

Essex are my personal favourites but it's all down to taste really. The only thing missing from the Essex range is a Mitrailleuse.

Have a look at 10mm too, not that far from 15mm and allows you to field the kind of numbers the FPW demands.

I know you asked about 15mm, but Doc has 10mm 1866 figures from Pendraken and they look great.  Pendraken does have the figures to do FPW.

I've played FPW in 25mm, 15mm and 10mm. I agree witht the 10mm suggestion, it's my favourite scale for this period as you can field bigger armies and use the artillery as the Prussians used it. They are easier to paint too. Both Pendraken and Magister Militum produce 10mm, both produce great figures so it's just a matter of taste.

I've had some great FPW games in the past so enjoy.

Paper Terrain has a generic European village that fits well. I use 10mm scale buildings with 15mm figures. Each house also has a detsroyed version that fits inside the undamaged house. Once enough combat has taken place, lift off the original and maybe place some cotton smoke.

My preference would be to go 10mm, the figures are lovely and the visual appeal is greta

I would definitely check Pendraken's 10mm line, before making a choice.

To show off the photos of the minis. The thread probably has more hits on it than any other on the Pendraken forum, though there is another of AWI minis which is just as spectacular.

Yes, some of the Pendraken figures are superbly painted. I've almost been tempted to invest but don't think my painting skills can now do them justice.

Old Glory 15mm IMO is the best sculpt FPW range.
